Collectables' two-fer of Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven offers both of Donovan's 1967 albums on one CD. Of the two, Mellow Yellow is the more diverse and developed work; the title track, "Bleak City Woman," "Writer in the Sun," and "Sand and Foam" blend folk, pop, and blues elements in their creative arrangements (courtesy of John Paul Jones and John Cameron). Originally one half of Donovan's A Gift from a Flower to a Garden, Wear Your Love Like Heaven captures some of the larger work's poppiest moments, such as the beautiful title track, "There Was a Time," "Someone Singing," and "Little Boy in Corduroy." On their own, neither of these albums are Donovan's strongest, but together they provide an entertaining look at the peak of his psych-pop years.
