AllMusic Review by

This single CD combines together highlights from a pair of guitarist Al Viola's more obscure recordings. In 1979 he recorded a tribute to his long-time boss Frank Sinatra by performing trios and unaccompanied solos on electric guitar of tunes associated with Sinatra including "Night and Day," "Fly Me to the Moon," "Nancy" and even "Old Man River" and "Strangers in the Night." Viola in most cases performs the music a different way than the singer, sometimes playing romps as ballads and vice versa. In addition there are four beautiful acoustic guitar solos by Viola from 1980 of which "My Funny Valentine" and "All the Things You Are" are highlights. This CD gives one a definitive look at the underrated Al Viola.
