A duo comprised of the brothers Vingo and Jimmy Regino, the April Boys are one of the most popular signing groups in the Philippines. A third brother, who goes by the name of April Boy Regino, participated in the group's first album in 1993. He left the group for a solo career in 1995. Both the April Boys and April Boy Regino have had commercially successful careers and are household names in the Philippines. Both are known for singing easy listening and middle-of-the-road love songs, always popular in the Philippines. The April Boys' Megahits, released in 1999, collects a number of songs made popular by the group. While some songs, such as "Honey My Love So Sweet," could do with less syrup, a number of other songs are good, including "Tunay Na Pag-Ibig" (True Love), "Parang 'Di Ko Na Kaya" (Seems Like I Can't Take It Anymore), and "Sana Ay Mahalin Mo Rin Ako" (Hope You Love Me Too). The melodies are strong and the singing of the April Boys is passionate and sure, although these romantic songs would likely be of only limited appeal in the U.S. or Europe.
