AllMusic Review by

Any session that drummer Max Roach had in which he used Booker Little (who died at age 23 in 1961) is quite valuable, for Little was the first trumpeter since the death of Clifford Brown to develop his own personal voice. This set, which also features George Coleman on tenor, bassist Art Davis and the young tuba player Ray Draper, has its stimulating moments although it is not quite up to the level of the group's best recordings. The musicians do stretch themselves on five group originals plus John Lewis's "Milano Ti" and the standard "Old Folks" so, even though this LP is not essential, it is worth checking out.
