AllMusic Review by

This double LP from the late '70s brings together many valuable recordings from two of the master pianists. The incredible Art Tatum is featured on nine piano solos from 1934 and 1937 and on a four-song session with a sextet in 1937. James P. Johnson, the king of stride piano, pays tribute to his student with a dozen songs associated with Fats Waller. This set is rounded off with Johnson guesting with Eddie Condon's band on a rousing "Just You, Just Me."
