AllMusic Review by

This best-of focuses on Ray Charles' early years, with some of these tracks being among the maestro's first recordings, done in the late 1940s and early '50s, almost 10 years before his break-out hit record "What'd I Say." He's joined by Lowell Fulson's band on "Kissa Me Baby," while 1951's "Baby Let Me Hold Your Hand" became his first minor hit.
