Mastercuts: Beach Bar

Undisputed compilation heavyweights Mastercuts step into the crammed Ibizan market, extending their Bar Social series into a summertime selection that spans two CDs and comes laden with some of house music's greatest heavyweights. Though there's an occasional twist in the tail of the super-clean computer mix, this is a pretty straight up and down take on the pick of 2002's more soulful house, with hits from the likes of X-Press 2, Todd Terry, Larry Heard, and Masters at Work ably supported by the slightly more left-field outings from Victor Davies and Jazzanova. An accomplished but unadventurous selection for those seeking some of the warmth of the white isle for their living rooms.
