The universe's foremost authority on homemaking (save for Sue Ann Nivens) has a knack for curating background music ideal for all holiday occasions, whether used as a soundtrack to an upscale, intimate dinner party or just for wrapping gifts and baking cookies. On this installment of her Living Music series, Martha Stewart presents an eclectic 18-song offering of modern and classic vocal adult contemporary holiday favorites by such artists as Tony Bennett, José Feliciano, Martina McBride, Mariah Carey, and Luther Vandross, among others. The songs and their performances are warm, comforting, and highly inoffensive, with the only foul committed in the compilation's sequencing (it's mildly jarring at points). As a bonus, there's a recipe that is mildly challenging and requires a steady hand (especially for those not inclined toward the culinary), but when done well results in some remarkably delicious Apple Napoleans.
