At least three of the four Cugat tracks are available on other Columbia LPs, and the same may be true of the Belmonte and Machito selections. In any case, this is fantastic record with a gorgeous jacket and exotic music. Machito's vocal numbers are particularly indispensable; his one instrumental contribution, "Oboe Mambo," features Mitch Miller. Fans of female vocalists in an Afro-Cuban setting will appreciate Machito's "Si Si -- No No" and Abbe Lane with Cugat singing "Anything Can Happen Mambo." Mambo Mucho Mambo is a great, unique album, superior to any of the similar Three Great... [artists] packages from RCA Victor.
