An exciting trumpeter who plays both hard bop and Latin jazz, Michael Philip Mossman contributed nine of the ten songs (all but "All the Things You Are") to this CD along with all of the arrangements. Highlights include tributes to Michel Camilo ("Ronita's Fantasy"), Clare Fischer ("No Peeking"), and Duke Ellington and Miles Davis ("My Sentiments"). The music shifts between straight-ahead and Afro-Cuban jazz, with Mossman joined by tenor saxophonist Bob Mintzer (doubling on flute), pianist Kenny Drew, Jr., bassist James Genus, drummer Mark Walker, and Bobby Sanabria on percussion. All of the musicians play up to their expected level, and this fine program has no slow moments. Recommended.
