In this delicate album, Zizi Possi, backed by a small band of excellent musicians (in which a cello plays a prominent role), keeps the balance between pop tunes/renditions and classic sambas with a baião/embolada in between, but either way Possi aims here for a deeper Brazilian/classic category, not the straightforward pop shelves. Careful, profound interpretations in a subtle tone can be found in "Melodia Sentimental," "Mais Simples," and others. Pop grooves predominate "Filho de Santa Maria," "Olho de Peixe," and "Mundo Cruel." The selection of sambas comprises "Eu Quero um Samba," hit in the voice of João Gilberto here in a samba-funky rendition; "Só pra Chatear," a samba where she is backed solely by cuícas; "Provei," by Noel Rosa/Vadico; "Brasil" by Benedito Lacerda; and the immortal classic "Juízo Final" by Nelson Cavaquinho/Élcio Soares. A mature artist in control of her production, Possi delivers a sincere creation.
