AllMusic Review by

George Shearing's "Lullaby of Birdland" (which uses the chords of "Love Me or Leave Me") was one of the more popular jazz standards of the 1950s. This LP has a dozen versions, all recorded specifically for the album. Bands led by Dick Collins, Tony Scott, Pete Jolly, Milt Bernhart, Billy Byers, Joe Newman, Charlie Barnet, Andre Previn and Shorty Rogers, Barbara Carroll, Ernie Wilkins, Al Cohn and Quincy Jones (ranging from trios to May's 18-piece orchestra) all have chances to intepret the song. Obviously this album (a bit of a collector's item) is for fans of the tune.
