There are far too few Lucky Thompson records; in part because the legendary sax player had a reputation of being "difficult." These rare 1965 sessions with the great Tommy Flanagan on piano (on all but three tracks) produced 70 minutes of relaxed jazz that are a superb introduction to Thompson's tenor stylings, out of Coleman Hawkins and Don Byas; and his soft, airy sound on the soprano.
