The press release proudly declared "this is not an industrial CD." While fans of the more abrasive industrial will probably like this, I do thin they are right. They do mention Neurosis. Neurosis fans might like this, sure. Being from Detroit, I witnessed the "aggro" emo-core of Laughing Hyenas. I see a strong similarity. There is another similarity in the two bass, wall of noise put out by Detroit's Slaughterhouse. Machine That Flashes also uses two basses, no guitar. Though, Machine That Flashes has brooding interludes of eerie sounds and sound bites that the Laughing Hyenas or Slaughterhouse did not use. Whatever your label, it's the best thing this harsh that I heard in 1998. The music is well arranged and the production is excellent.
