AllMusic Review by

A few years after SuperBird reissued the Main Ingredient's second and fourth albums (Tasteful Soul and Bitter Sweet), SoulMusic, in cooperation with Real Gone, similarly combined the group's first and third albums. Armed with arrangements from Bert de Coteaux, who continued to work with the group for several years, L.T.D. (1970) features their first charting Billboard single, "You've Been My Inspiration" -- a soft and sweet ballad, their specialty. Black Seeds (1971) was led by the Top 20 R&B title track, a proud anthem. [The cover and track list note the presence of a bonus cut, "Psychedelic Ride" (which was the B-side to "I Was Born to Lose"), but it is not on the 21-track disc, it's on the 22-track disc.]
