The tenth volume of Thump's Lowrider Oldies series continues to compile classic and less valued soul songs. While some volumes have concentrated on '60s doo wop and '70s funk and soul, this one is another that focuses on the '60s. As with most of the other Thump releases, there's a fair amount of overlap with the label's other titles, not to mention the scads of similarly minded releases that have come out on other labels. For all the recycling they do, the quality of the selections is regularly high, and this is no exception. Featured here: the Delfonics' "Somebody Loves You Girl," Smokey Robinson's "The Agony and the Ecstasy," Little Anthony & the Imperials' "I'm on the Outside (Looking In)," Barbara Lewis' "Make Me Your Baby," and the Four Tops' "(It's the Way) Nature Planned It."
