AllMusic Review by

Coming on like an indie pop G. Love & Special Sauce, Blume mix and match acoustic roots melodies, hip-hop beats and scratches, and white-boy angst to create a distinctive if not completely successful sound that more often than not manages to overcome its cloying preciousness. Drawing most obviously on Beck's earliest efforts, Low Glider Bus Rider covers almost too much ground -- traces of jazz and punk creep into the stew as well -- but while Blume is good at approximating their influences, they're not always on the mark when it comes time to actually tie everything together. Although frontman Joel Blum's lyrics betray more than a little soul-searching neurosis, the overall vibe generated by the record is loose and carefree; one easily imagines Blume attracting a major cult following, and, at their brightest moments, they prove they're going to deserve it.
