Love songs are the very bedrock of pop music, and every generation, year after year, has its own love songs, making the years go by with a constant stream of them, and some of those love songs break through the generations to become timeless and enduring favorites across the board. This generous 20-song set features several of those, and while the theme is Mother's Day here, one can't help but wonder if many of the songs collected have actually anything at all to do with mothers, but hey, love is a big word that covers a lot of ground. Included are Gene Autry's "You Are My Sunshine," Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable," the Drifters' "Some Kind of Wonderful," and the Supremes' "My World Is Empty Without You," among others.
