Bellevue's Love Songs series, like other releases from the label, features only a handful of original recordings per volume. Poorly recorded live versions and studio re-recordings are far more common. The label specifies which selections are live, but it does not bother to note which ones are inferior studio remakes. That alone is a case for ignoring the whole series. Among the many reasons to avoid this volume: substandard versions of Mr. Big's "To Be with You," Kool & the Gang's "Joanna," Blessid Union of Souls' "Let Me Be the One," and T'Pau's "Valentine." There is no rhyme or reason to the selections. They span genres and decades.
