Piano dominates this split 7" single by Texas mainstays Centro-Matic and Tripping Daisy. The A-side is Centro-Matic in name only, as the show tune-ish "Love Has Found Me Somehow" finds band singer Will Johnson firing up the four-track and mercilessly plonking the vaguely in-tune keys of an old Bradbury wall piano. The jaunty recording -- complete with whistling, Johnson's overdubbed backing harmonies, and an irony-laced "bring it down" section -- imagine what sort of off-kilter trouble GBV's Robert Pollard might get into after sucking down a case of Budweiser amidst a rotating throng of Liza Minnelli records on the hi-fi. Meanwhile, Tripping Daisy's "Bedhead" is a moody, waltz-time number spiked with a sucker-punch ending. The song's verses recall a 3 a.m. dance in a moonlit, potted palm-filled danceteria, while the choruses combine Built to Spill-like dynamics with piano pop sensibility. The platter's translucent red vinyl seals the deal.
