This terrific compilation includes many of the singer/pianist combination's era of independently produced religious-oriented tunes, which are done to a turn here. Their old hits have been reworked into uplifting, soul-searching anthems; "Arrepientente" is a reworking of their 1970 hit, "Agúzate," and "Mas Que Vencedores" is their newer version of the 1971 classic, "Sonido Bestial." "El Yoyo" gets the same treatment, but other tunes like "Reina de Mi Vida" (featuring an additional version in ballad style) are highly recommendable. Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz's recordings have been highly popular through the years, and their freshness is such that even lyric reworking does not compromise any of their musical identity. An interesting summary of a little-discussed period in the duo's history.
