AllMusic Review by

With its bouncy melody, bubbling keyboards, lock-groove coda, and icily cosmopolitan Laetitia Sadier vocal, "Lo Boob Oscillator" is quintessential Stereolab -- so definitive, in fact, it even enjoys the pride of placement on the soundtrack of the record-store clerk rom-com High Fidelity. For curious listeners daunted by the group's enormous catalog, it's an excellent litmus test. Conversely, the pulsating flip side, "Tempter," achieves a dark majesty and martial force unlike anything else Stereolab recorded before or after -- a wall of sound both imposing and impenetrable.
