Lo and behold, a worthwhile album in RCA's ubiquitous easy-listening series. The Beat Goes On has Phil Kraus, leader of "Living Percussion," joined by Dick Hyman on loan from Command. Instrumentation includes the gamut of exotic percussion plus sitar on a few tracks (it's 1969, after all). "Jungle Fantasy" is particularly strong, and a 3:45 version of "Quiet Village" is hard to fault. If only the rest of the series were as good.
