AllMusic Review by

Over the years, clarinetist/bandleader Jimmy Sturr has established himself as the unchallenged polka king, winny Grammys and accolades left and right for his recordings. LIVING ON POLKA TIME contains plenty of straight-ahead polka, played by Sturr and his band of talented vets, but it also goes a step further. Sturr has enough of a sense of history to connect the musicological dots between polka and other traditions. Thus, we get Augie Meyers' Tex-Mex romp "Hey Baby, Que Paso," with guest accordionist Flaco Jimenez, and the trad country tune "Loving Arms of Tennessee," which features a guest vocal from country singer Bill Anderson. The balance of the disc contains more traditionally oriented polka tunes, both instrumental and vocal, sung in Polish and English.
