AllMusic Review by

This artistically packaged, independently produced, two-disc live set is the consummate recording by this non-conforming German sextet. Recorded in November and December of 2002, it contains the finest tracks from their two full-length studio albums to date. Mutabor are true innovators when it comes to combining ska, punk, and alt-pop into a unifying sound. In addition to the obvious fan favorite, "Es Gibt Keine Liebe," and the offbeat "Ich Will Weg," Mutabor offers two of the most telling tracks illustrating the symbiotic relationship between punk and pop -- "Lump" and "Nebenwirkung." Mutabor doesn't allow the influence of trendy musical dictates and simplistic expectations to infiltrate their creative process. How many punk and alternative rock bands are willing or capable of incorporating violin, clarinet, recorder, and accordion prominently into their sound? One needs only to listen to "Amsterdam," "Abgestandenes Bier," and "Lisa" to discover how interesting and artistic punk-related music styles can be. Sung in German, Mutabor's music should appeal to listeners of all nationalities because their keen sense of melody coupled with their unpredictable dynamics and boundless creativity takes precedence over all else.
