Technically speaking, this isn't a new live album at all. Instead, it's a label reworking of the band's 2005 DVD The Story of the Band as a live CD with bonus DVD, which is a good thing for fans who don't have the earlier release. The music was recorded in Berlin in 2004, when Ioan Ivancea was still alive and Fanfare Ciocãrlia were roaring on all cylinders, scorching up and down the material, stopping and turning on a dime while roaring like the very best Balkan brass band, which they were at the time. The music is fabulous, and the DVD, Iag Bari -- Brass on Fire, complements it perfectly, tracing Fanfare Ciocãrlia on tour and showing their rural home in Romania. It's worth the price for the music alone, but the DVD provides a mouth-watering bonus of Balkan brass.
