Let's get this straight from the jump: this is not the Legacy imprint produced and distributed by Sony. This is a budget label that does generally shoddy repackages, and this disc is no different except for one thing: the material that Legacy usually licenses has decent sound. This live gig of "Rod the Mod" trying to be a soul singer doesn't work either in terms of studio quality or the performance, and has what sounds like bootleg sound. The performances of these tunes -- such as Lamont Dozier's classic R&B nugget "Can I Get a Witness," Willie Dixon's "I Just Got Some," and Jimmy Reed's "Bright Lights, Big City" are tepid and loose to the point of shambolic, and they feel considerably less than inspired.
