Like Volume 1, the second live duo CD from percussionist Chris Cutler and guitarist Fred Frith is a compilation of recordings taken from several concerts: "Artcore" was recorded in Trondheim at the 1991 Nordlydd Contemporary Music Festival; "Webcore" and "You Might Hear Some Traffic's Noise" come from a concert in Berlin a month later. "Nothing"'s original performance location is given as "Nowhere," while "Meltdown" is a bonus track taken from an out-of-print seven-inch single originally recorded during a 1978 concert in Limoges. Fans know what to expect: lots of weird, sumptuous and virtuosic noise from two of the world's foremost avant-gardists. The music is always arrythmic and without anything approaching melody, yet it's never unapproachable; there's something sweet-natured about the clatter and whine these two musicians make together, and even those without an already-developed interest in noise music should be able to appreciate its textural complexity and Cutler and Frith's endless inventiveness.
