AllMusic Review by

Wayne Shorter was still a new member of the Davis Quintet at the time of this concert recording. Although the group (which also includes pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Tony Williams) would soon begin recording exclusively originals in the studios, their live performances would feature standards for several years to come. In addition to an unidentified "Miles Impro," the group performs such standbys as "Stella by Starlight," "Walkin'," "Autumn Leaves" and "So What" on this date. Recording quality is decent if not great but the improvisations by the fiery young group are excellent, extending the boundaries of bop. This valuable music was released for the first time on this European CD.
