The Immortal label in the Netherlands has licensed the rights to reissue many vintage rock concerts originally issued as home video VHS tapes as both DVDs and CDs in Europe. This two-CD set presents the audio-only portion of a video that was called The Who Rocks America: 1982 American Tour when it was released originally on VHS in 1984. The concert in question is the final date of what was then billed as the Who's "farewell" tour in 1982 in Toronto, Canada. (Of course, this official breakup was followed by reunion tours and eventually even new recordings.) The group was touring in support of their studio album It's Hard, which explains the presence in the set of lesser-known songs from that album ("Dangerous," "It's Hard") and its predecessor, Face Dances ("The Quiet One"). But most of the set consists of Who favorites, played and sung by original members Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, and John Entwistle, drummer Kenney Jones, and joined by keyboard player Tim Gorman. The CD set is slightly longer than the video, adding the songs "5:15" and "Squeeze Box." The sound, taken off the video soundtrack, is not bad, but is not as good as what might be expected from a regular live album.
