AllMusic Review by

The Butch Thompson Trio (consisting of the pianist-leader, bassist Bill Evans and drummer Red Maddock) were an important ingredient in the success of the popular radio series Prairie Home Companion. The group (with occasional guest guitarist Tom Lieberman and on "Lady Be Good" cornetist Charlie Devore) are featured throughout this 1981 LP, mostly playing stride-filled versions of standards including "China Boy," "The Pearls," "I'll Dance at Your Wedding" and Scott Joplin's "The Easy Winners." An original blues by drummer Maddock (who takes a vocal) and Garrison Keillor's "Clouds of Joy" wrap up this enjoyable if hard-to-find set.
