Just as Alice in Chains was about to hit the big time with their heavy hit "Man in the Box" (in the summer of 1991), Columbia reissued their 1990 debut, Facelift, along with a free video, Live Facelift. The video contained five live tracks (recorded during a headline concert at the Moore Theater in their hometown of Seattle), as well as their first two video clips ("We Die Young" and the disturbing "Man in the Box"). The live performances successfully capture the energy of the band as they were still developing into a major metallic force (culminating with their dark 1992 classic Dirt). Featured are rough and electrified versions of the aforementioned "Man in the Box," as well as the dark yet melodic "Sea of Sorrow" and the album tracks "Real Thing," "Love, Hate, Love," and "Bleed the Freak." After Facelift obtained gold certification in the fall of 1991, Sony released Live Facelift as a domestic home video and included a third promo video clip -- "Sea of Sorrow." Fans of early Alice in Chains are sure to enjoy Live Facelift.
