Freddy Cole's smoky, silky voice automatically invites comparison to his famous brother Nat, but as a pianist he shows a host of influences. Joined by guitarist Jerry Byrd and bassist Tom Hubbard, Cole's live session gently swings through a collection of standards, including an understated "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To." His humorous version of "You've Let Yourself Go" is side-splitting, but it is his reserved piano style on tracks like "I Remember You" that helps make him worth remembering.
