AllMusic Review by

The second of three albums that Chet Baker recorded one night at the Subway club in Cologne, Germany, has the original two numbers from the LP (a 22-and-a-half-minute version of Horace Silver's "Doodlin'" and a 24-and-a-half-minute run-through on "Just Friends") with a 15-minute "Night Bird" that was previously unreleased before the CD reissue. As with volume one, Baker is assisted by flutist Nicola Stilo, pianist Dennis Luxion, and bassist Ricardo del Fra, fine local musicians. The playing is solid even if the performances sometimes go on a bit too long; Baker is in good form throughout.
