This Italian import features tenor-saxophonist Stan Getz in rare Birdland appearances from April 15, 1952 (with a quintet including pianist Horace Silver, guitarist Jimmy Raney, bassist Charles Mingus and drummer Connie Kay) and Aug. 9, 1952 (with Raney, pianist Duke Jordan, Mingus and drummer Phil Brown). Getz is in excellent form on these eight selections which are highlighted by "Potter's Luck," "Parker 51" (which is really "Cherokee") and "Move." Getz and Raney had a special chemistry and all of their recordings are excellent but this LP will be difficult to locate.
