When this bootleg LP was recorded at the Starwood in West Hollywood, CA on April 25, 1978, Blondie was still playing small clubs instead of auditoriums. The Starwood, which closed down in the early 1980s, was well known among L.A. rockers -- everyone from the Go-Gos to the Motels to Van Halen played the Santa Monica Boulevard nightclub before becoming famous nationally. The Starwood also booked visiting non-L.A. acts, and Blondie easily packed the place. This LP offers generally decent stereo sound quality -- not perfect, but not bad either -- and Blondie really lets it rip on gems from its first two albums, Blondie ("Rip Her to Shreds," "X-Offender") and Plastic Letters (including "Fan Mail," "(I Am Always Touched by Your) Presence, Dear" and "Denis"). An added bonus is the album's attractive artwork, which depicts Harry on a jet-black background. This recording also resulted in the bootleg Blondi Comes Alive on Dreamland.
