When you put two voices together that both have qualities of splendor, it's hard to miss the mark. Add to that that the voices are sisters, and you can see why the chops on Everafter's debut release, Listen, are flawless at the seams. While some cuts do tend to teeter on the ordinary à la "One More Reason" or "Until I Find You," others are right on the mark. The title track is a song that pours out sincerity and poignancy. Featuring an acoustic guitar, strings, and a shaker, the cut is sung with vigor and reverence. "Completely" is a tune with an engaging chorus. The song hovers into pop territory where the sister's voices seem to excel. The same holds true for "Forgiveness." Here the song's melody is bolstered by drum loops and the full potency of two vocals that reach their height mid-song. On Listen Christina Ferris and Brenda Krause capture some emotional moments that take the listener on a joyful ride. While the album isn't groundbreaking, there are still many moments to savor.
