Trombonist Kai Winding made relatively few quartet sessions throughout his career but this was his fourth of the 1974-1977 period. One of the few Who's Who LPs that did not have a guest appearance by vibraphonist Lionel Hampton, this outing by Winding features him in fine form with pianist Frank Strazzeri, bassist Kevin Brandon, and drummer Ted Hawke. Together they perform one original apiece by Winding and Strazzeri, plus six standards (highlighted by "Crazy She Calls Me," "Yardbird Suite," and "If I Didn't Care"). If this album was more widely available, it could serve as a strong introduction to Kai Winding's talents.
