The band's third album strays little from their classic formula, with maybe even more of a debt to the Fall. "Completely Ratted" is a boozy rewrite of the Fall's "Totally Wired," for example. While the topics are still comical, the sound is slightly glum and hung-over, feeling like last orders at a pub, when it isn't decidedly low-fi ("Last Night"). Observational comedy is the set's strong point: "Vic Sinex" is a perfect evocation of being stuck in a London flat with a head cold and "Duller Than..." is probably about a real workmate, but it doesn't stop the song from being funny. Less successful are the evocations of life in the high capitalist Thatcher era, mirthless renderings of business-speak set to.
