12-song compilation of soul and urban contemporary music with gospel/inspirational lyrical themes and musical influences. As is the case with several Soul Classics compilations, the lineup is a bit of a mish-mash, spanning 1969 to 1988, and putting classic group harmony soul shoulder to shoulder with MOR Black pop. Includes selections from Maze, Peabo Bryson, the Emotions, and Earth, Wind & Fire, as well as The Five Stairsteps' 1970 gem "O-o-h Child," and the little-anthologized "Hello Sunshine," a 1969 single by Rev. Maceo Woods and the Christian Tabernacle Choir that actually reached the R&B Top 30.
