AllMusic Review by

Liebe Tunina is the third release by the trio known as Vibes, featuring vibraphonist/composer Bill Ware III, bassist Brad Jones, and drummer/percussionist E.J. Rodriguez. There's a certain intimacy and restraint to the band's sound, even as it purveys hip-hop sonic references ("Dark Alleys"), rock-inspired grooves ("Stray Dogs," "Doesn't Anybody"), straight-up funk ("BQB"), and driving Latin ("Laugh Over Me"). Ware continues to display a fascination with the music of Hank Mobley ("Ultra Marine") and Bill Withers ("I Want to Spend the Night"); he sings the latter in a husky yet somewhat unsteady baritone. He's at his most inspired on "Lullavibe," a mellow piece in an intriguing 10/8; "Read Between the Lies," with its haunting funk vamp and simple, descending melody; and "El Falsante," a lively percussion-and-vocal feature for Rodriguez.
