AllMusic Review by

Direct Source's Let It Rock 1985 gathers up 12 songs from that year. The set includes some of the year's biggest hits in a variety of styles. There are new wave-ish classics like Katrina & the Waves' "Walking On Sunshine" and 'Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry," urban smashes from Freddie Jackson ("Rock Me Tonight") and Ready for the World ("Oh Sheila"), and loads of radio-friendly rock like Pat Benatar's "We Belong," REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling," and the Power Station's thumping cover of T. Rex's "Get It On (Bang a Gong)." Although it is too brief and leaves out a great deal of what was going on that year, the collection does serve nicely as a low-priced intro to the sounds of 1985.
