Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina Review

by Jason Ankeny

The soundtrack to the 1997 film adaptation of Tolstoy's renowned novel Anna Karenina features the St. Petersberg Philharmonic Orchestra performing the compositions of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, and Prokofiev. Conductor Sir Georg Solti ensures that the performances resonate with an epic drama befitting their function in the film and the sound quality is stunning, as it was recorded at St. Petersburg Cathedral.
