You get the impression from the cover of Latin Seduction: The Best of Vallenato -- which features a beefcake type dumbly gripping an accordion -- that Madacy isn't necessarily selling this series on the basis of its musical quality. Nevertheless, there are some spectacular accordion performances on the collection, including Tulio's "Cachucha Bacana" and Patricia Calderón's "Aviso Clasificado (Busco un Hombre)." Maya Arguelles shares the melody beautifully with the instrument on "Siempre Enamorada," while Erick, Nayo y la Decisión turn in the lilting, mid-tempo "No Puede Quitarte las Espinas," which begins with an urgent accordion line, only to descend into the romantic vocal part. It's a better vallenato collection than you might think from the blatant cover art, but Latin Seduction: The Best of Vallenato doesn't quite live up to its ambitious title.
