AllMusic Review by

Some CDs by "The Percy Faith Orchestra" don't actually feature original recordings by the Toronto-born producer/arranger/orchestra leader, who died in 1976. Instead, they feature new recordings of Faith's instantly recognizable arrangements. LATIN RHYTHMS is one of these sets, recorded in 1998 by a full orchestra using Faith's mildly idiosyncratic charts. The results sound mostly like Percy Faith, but the clean, dry sound leaves a little to be desired in comparison to Faith's own lush and subtly-orchestrated releases. LATIN RHYTHMS picks tracks from classic Latin-tinged albums like MALAGUENA and VIVA!, often re-recorded at a speedier tempo than Faith's more stately original recordings. The tracks, from the hit "Malaguena" to a cover of Xavier Cugat's "My Shawl," are fine, but purists may be disappointed at the new recordings.
