This downbeat collection betrays no overt Latin influences, but may attract electronic-lounge fans due to the presence of several familiar songs in unfamiliar remixes. An early highlight comes with the hypnotizing warm melodics of "Breathe" by Télépopmusik, followed closely by the only tinge of Latin inspiration on the remix of "No Other Love" by Deep & Wild. The advert hit "Days Go By" from Dirty Vegas appears in an acoustic mix, one that was intended to be tender but comes off as merely antiseptic. Even a remix of the pumping '80s classic "White Horse" -- originally recorded by everyone's favorite Danish dance act, Laid Back -- sounds oddly sterile. Occasionally, Latin Lounge succeeds because of a beautiful sublimity to the songs, but too many of these fail to display the emotion necessary to make a disc successful.
