AllMusic Review by

A celebration of the 1996 Last Night of the Proms, this 14-track collection performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra and conducted by Barry Wordsworth is full of mainstream classical pieces designed to stir patriotic fervor among its listeners. Featuring Proms standards "Rule Britannia" and "Land of Hope and Glory," choral hymn "Jerusalem," and national anthem "God Save the Queen," alongside more traditional pieces by Handel, Gustav Holst, and Sir Edward Elgar, the album lacks any audience/crowd noise as it was recorded separately at London's All Saints studios, rather than the actual event at London's Royal Albert Hall.
