These 18 tracks are drawn from five CDs that this ensemble issued between 1997 and 2000. It's competent, well-rendered contemporary Mexican-American music with a traditional bent, nothing innovative or special. Give it credit where due, though: There's far more diversity on this disc than there is in many such albums by Mexican-American (or indeed, many American ethnic) bands. There are up-tempo female duets, sad instrumental boleros, lonesome acoustic ballads (Gisela Farias Luna's vocal on "La Morena" is a highlight in this regard), strutting brassy salsa tunes, songs with shades of American adult contemporary pop, a cappella harmony, and more.
