Realistically only a single release, Kono Mune Wo, Ai Wo Iyo marks a bit of a transition for the duo Porno Graffitti. The set opens with a straightforward, orchestral ballad. Lead singer Akihito Okano's vocals slowly work their way from vulnerable and quiet to strong but hurt over the course of the song, coalescing surprisingly well with the backdrop of strings. For a follow-up, the pair moves closer to its usual rock realm, butting up against the legacy of Unicorn in "Diamond." Akihito does his best impression of Tamio Okuda, and the track flows well, though somewhat forgettably. As a return to form, the pair of tracks here does a fine job of showing some new angles as well as influences for Porno Graffitti.
