Kleber Albuquerque is a composer who opens ambitious avenues in his first, self-titled album. "Cuia (Ou a Arte de Desenhar Cavalo)" is an indigenous mixture of northeastern swinging embolada with fuzzed-out rock guitars, with odd, provocative lyrics; "Deflorar" also shamelessly deals with repression and taboo. The rest of the album is more conventional, showing Albuquerque to be more of a lyricist than a melodist. Nevertheless, this is a genuine effort that certainly deserves to be heard.
